According to the Building Act 1993, if you are building on your property it is your responsibility toprevent the adjacent property from suffering any damage.

As the owner of the property it is your responsibility to implement protection procedures if your construction site is close to or adjoining neighbouring properties.  This rule has been designed to ensure that your neighbours properties are not damaged in any way shape or form by your planned construction.
